COME RES

H2020 Project

COME RES - Community Energy for the uptake of renewables in the electricity sector. Connecting long-term visions with short-term actions – is a project under the EU’s Horizon2020 programme, aimed at facilitating the market uptake of renewable energy sources (RES) in the electricity sector. Specifically, the project focusses on advancing renewable energy communities (RECs) as per the EU’s recast Renewable Energy Directive. COME RES takes a multi- and transdisciplinary approach to support the development of RECs in nine European countries; Belgium, Germany, Italy Latvia, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal and Spain.

Relation to DECIDE

COME RES directly works on and with Renewable Energy Communities in nine european Countries. The project explores the barriers and drivers for RECs in close exchange with local stakeholders. Good practices will be identified and transfered to to other regions taking local, regional and national specific contexts into account.

ECCO One Stop Shop

Platform

The purpose of the One Stop Shop (OSS) is to have a place where communities can access all relevant information regarding community Community Energy Projects quickly and effortlessly. The OSS connects users through a social media platform, which can be linked to Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter accounts. Through this platform one can meet both professionals and individuals with experience in renewable energy and Energy Communities. Users can also browse the forum to share their knowledge and expertise on a range of topics pertinent to Community Energy projects.

Relation to DECIDE

Energy Communities are the main stakeholders targetd in OSS' platform, which is a good source of information on Collective Actions.

EU Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy

Network

The Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy Europe was lunched in 2008 and currently brings together thousands of local governments committed to implementing EU climate and energy objectives and to achieve European targets in the three main pillars of action: adaptation, mitigation and energy poverty. The initiative now gathers 9,000+ local and regional authorities across 57 countries, drawing on the strengths of a worldwide multi-stakeholder movement and the technical and methodological support offered by dedicated offices.

Relation to DECIDE

The Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy Europe focusses on Energy Communities and Collective Actions in its second and third pillar, which are mitigation and energy poverty. The target audience for projects and initiatives started in this framework are local authorities that can be both promoters and facilitators of Renewable Energy Communities and Collective Actions that might be interested in leveraging local initiatives in order to reach their climate goals.

ROLECS

H2020 Project

ROLECS is a research project that intends to gain a deeper understanding of the development and the role of Local Energy Communities (LECs) in Belgium. Funded by public Flemish institutions, it involves 23 companies and 4 knowledge institutions. The project aims to provide answers to questions relative to, amongst others, triggering end-consumers participation to LECs, integrating technical energy models to social behaviors and defining the impact of large scale roll-out of LECs regarding the decarbonization of the energy system.

Relation to DECIDE

ROLECS strives at testing theory on 10 complementary energy communities pilot sites where key questions can be asked, such as: Which type of data to collect?
What type of tariffs works with end-users? How to control and operate to maximise potential of energy exchange? ROLECS'
prime target is to optimise the local energy flows to reduce the current grid costs, and to realise the electrification of the energy system while respecting the constraints of the existing distribution grid.

Smart Cities Marketplace

Knowledge Platform

The Smart Cities Marketplace is a platform which was created by merging the former Marketplace of the European Innovation Partnership on Smart Cities and Communities (EIP-SCC) and the Smart Cities Information System (SCIS). It is a major market-changing undertaking supported by the European Commission bringing together cities, industries, SMEs, investors, researchers and other smart city actors.

Relation to DECIDE

The Smart Cities Marketplace has thousands of followers from all over Europe (and beyond), many of which have signed up as a member. Their common aims are to improve citizens’ quality of life, increase the competitiveness of European cities and industry as well as to reach European energy and climate targets. They work with three pillars of action: Explore, Shape and Deal. Explore the possibilities, shape your project ideas, and close a deal for launching Smart City solutions.
