BECoop e-market environment

Networking platform

This tool, produced by the H2020-funded project BECoop, supports stakeholders when developing a community bioenergy project and defining the required services and activities for supporting their own cases. They will be able to identify other stakeholders to contact to carry out their project, see the experience of others and similar initiatives, etc. The e-market environment connects supply chain stakeholders to support the creation and operation of new and existing energy communities.

BECoop Knowledge Exchange Platform

Knowledge Exchange Platform

The Knowledge Exchange Platform, a one-stop shop, lifts collaboration barriers across regions and sectors and hosts a set of resources in the field of community bioenergy heating, freely accessible:

- A network of interest for stakeholders and experts to share knowledge and expertise with BECoop in key deployment stages, including validation, networking and knowledge exchange, comprising a forum,
- Bioenergy community cases with an observatory/atlas of RESCoops active in the field of bioenergy,
- A knowledge repository: an online source of information, tools and services in the field of community bioenergy heating,
- Access to all BECoop tools.

The platform facilitates cross-regional network dialogue and knowledge exchange among community stakeholders.

No commercial interest.
Expected users are technical experts, RESCoops, policymakers, investors, industry and business stakeholders.

BECoop self-assessment tool

Horizon 2020 Project

Designed for non-specialised, non-experienced users seeking to assess the current state of a cooperative/community bioenergy project, the tool supports various users (provider, facility operators, RESCoops, local/regional authorities, and more) by providing an evaluation methodology, a set of indicators, metrics, definitions and technical as well as business recommendations, after they answer few questions on the resources available, the activity that best represent their initiative, and more. A spider web rating visualises the final results.

The BECoop self-assessment tool supports communities in getting ready to tap the full bioenergy market potential, making them aware of the potential held by their projects. Users can assess the current status and future potential of community bioenergy, revealing and better understanding the gaps, maturity levels for the adoption of bioenergy heating, their level of community engagement, as well as the complexity of the existing framework for procurement and policy design. Recommended actions appear after the user has answered some questions, guiding them to supporting resources and a score will be assigned depending on the option chosen, building in a graphical output (a spider-net) the project outcomes.

Relation to DECIDE

The tool supports energy communities future or ongoing work.

CEESEN

Network

The Central and Eastern Europe Sustainable Energy Network (CEESEN) is an online platform created to facilitate communication and unite different energy actors in the regions.  With the support of the project partners and the wider involvement of the CEESEN network, organisations and individuals can start to design a sustainable future for their communities. The platform is a result of the H2020 PANEL2050 project (CEESEN platform, Energy Roadmaps and Action Plans promoting and supporting the transition towards a low-carbon community, training material and trainings) and will be further developed in the H2020 CEESEU project (project started in November 2020, development will be done by WWF Hungary). The CEESEU project’s aim is to produce training material and conduct training that helps municipalities to compile and implement the Covenant of Mayors' Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plans (SECAPs). The CEESEN platform counts about 2500 members (organisations and private members).

Relation to DECIDE

The CEESEN platform focuses on sustainability and on energy transition in particular, and energy communities and collective actions, the two pillars of DECIDE, also play a big part in CEESEN’s activity.

Energy Communitiy Platform

Platform

The Energy Community Platform is a one-stop solution for everything about community energy.

This website has received funding from the EU's Interreg NWE ECCO project, EU's Horizon 2022 Compile project, EU's Horizon 2020 COME RES project, and Tides Foundation’s Patagonia Communications project.

What can be found on the platform?

  • Tools and resources. A broad collection of resources and tools in one place to help you develop your community energy project at any development stage.
  • Maturity test. This unique feature of the Energy Community Platform allows energy communities to self-assess their development stage. After answering 21 questions, they receive a result and some indications to assess their strengths and weaknesses and help them move forward. The test also allows the Energy Community Platform to offer resources tailored to each development stage. This test is based on research work carried out by the Compile project.
  • Community energy map. This map features energy communities across Europe to inspire others and facilitate exchange and collaborations between energy communities across borders.
  • Experts network. Our experts network can offer professional support to energy communities that have not been able to move forward by themselves or need additional support.
