Grid Singularity

Startup

Grid Singularity is developing an interface,  and an open source codebase to model, simulate, optimize and (coming soon) deploy grid-aware energy marketplaces.
Grid Singularity has been proclaimed the World Tech Pioneer by the World Economic Forum and is also known as a co-founder of the Energy Web Foundation that gathers leading energy corporations globally co-developing a shared blockchain-based platform. Our team is guided by the following principles

Relation to DECIDE

Energy communities can be simulated, optimised and eventually operated using Grid Singularity software as active local energy markets with enabled peer-to-peer and community trading, as well as inter-community trading where the regulation allows it.

Green Energy Cooperative (ZEZ)

Network

ZEZ is a member of the REScoop.eu management board. They coordinate the work of the technical group for the involvement of citizens in the development of renewable energy sources in the Energy Community, which connects EU member states and their neighbours with the aim of creating a unique pan-European energy market.

GoiEner

Cooperative

GoiEner, which is part of REScoop.eu, has the goal to recover energy sovereignty for citizens by entering the sectors of the electricity sector that are currently liberalised, which are energy purchase and generation. The profits obtained from the commercialisation of green electricity among its members are reverted back to the cooperative, whose members then decide how to allocate the funds. In turn, the members are able to invest in renewable generation projects, the production of which will be consumed by the cooperative itself.

Relation to DECIDE

GoiEner is about the collective generation and trading of electricity, which makes it fully compliant with the standards of Energy Communities.

EWS Elektrizitätswerke Schönau eG

Cooperative

EWS Elektrizitätswerke Schönau eG is a multi-utility cooperative. In the late 1990s it was the first of its kind in Germany to take over the grid as well as electricity supply to the local community. When the electricity markets were deregulated in 1998, it started to sell almost exclusively renewable energy to its local electricity customers. The year after, EWS began to supply customers with green electricity on a nationwide scale. Nowadays, its activities also include the supply of natural gas and biogas.

EU Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy

Network

The Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy Europe was lunched in 2008 and currently brings together thousands of local governments committed to implementing EU climate and energy objectives and to achieve European targets in the three main pillars of action: adaptation, mitigation and energy poverty. The initiative now gathers 9,000+ local and regional authorities across 57 countries, drawing on the strengths of a worldwide multi-stakeholder movement and the technical and methodological support offered by dedicated offices.

Relation to DECIDE

The Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy Europe focusses on Energy Communities and Collective Actions in its second and third pillar, which are mitigation and energy poverty. The target audience for projects and initiatives started in this framework are local authorities that can be both promoters and facilitators of Renewable Energy Communities and Collective Actions that might be interested in leveraging local initiatives in order to reach their climate goals.

Agricultural cooperatve

Agriculture cooperative Enosi Agriniou (Union of Agrino) was leading very successful commercial activities in the agrifood sector, when they decided to get involved in renewable energy projects, which led to the creation of a photovoltaic systems department .The department has managed to methodically and responsibly administer almost 700 files of photovoltaic parks installation in the prefectures of Aetoloakarnania and Corfu.

Relation to DECIDE

The Union has already developed 17 energy communities, according to a Greenpeace report. 10 of them will build wind projects with a capacity of 168MW, involving 1750 families. 7 of them will develop solar projects with a capacity of 126MW, involving 500 families.
